The Indonesian government announced Friday five oil and gas contracts worth 201.45 million U.S. dollars have been won by bidders including CNOOC and Malaysia's Petronas.
U.S.-based Murphy Overseas Ventures Inc. was awarded with the contract for South Barito field on Kalimantan island while Sweden's Lundin Oil and Gas B.V. won the Rangkas field in West Java, according to the announcement from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
A consortium between CNOOC South East Asia Ltd and Malaysia's Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn Bhd won the Palung Aru block.
Eni Indonesia Ltd., a subsidiary of Italy-based Eni, was awarded with the West Timor block and Genting Oil and Gas Ltd. Wasgiven the Kasuri block in Papua.
Luluk Sumiarso, director general of oil and gas with the ministry, said the government plans to put 46 more oil and gas blocks on offer later this year.
The soonest tender will be held on May 29 covering 25 blocks to be followed by another offering in October for the remaining 21 blocks, he said.
