On May 20, Moscow will host the international conference “Oil and Gas Equipment Standardization” (STANDARTNEFTEGAZ-2008) that will be attended by oil and gas equipment manufacturers and buyers – OJSC “Gazprom”, OJSC “AK “Transneft”, OJSC “Rosneft” and other oil and gas producing companies. The event will feature addresses by oil and gas industry officials.
The Russian oil and gas equipment standards are outdated and need to be modified. Besides, the current standards are permissive rather than mandatory, and each oil company establishes its own technical requirements for industrial products. The technical requirements of major oil and gas companies should be taken into account when developing new standards. Representatives of producing companies’ technology divisions will describe their equipment requirements.
The conference will also look at equipment safety issues. Participants in Standartneftegaz-2008 will have an opportunity to exchange opinions and develop a package of measures to improve Russian standards.
