Gazprom, Bulgargaz Discuss Work on South Stream Project

Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller and Bulgargaz Executive Director Dmitriy Gogov have discussed direct contracts under the South Stream project to supply gas to Bulgaria, Gazprom's press office has reported.

According to Gazprom, the two also agreed that in light of the inevitable growth in demand for gas in Europe, South Stream would play an important role in the interests of millions of European consumers.

Russia has exported natural gas to Bulgaria since 1974. According to preliminary data, in 2010 Gazprom Eksport supplied over 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas to the Balkan nation.
