Put SPE's RO&G '06 Moscow Event on Your Calendar Now!

With Neftegaz 2006 now behind us - and summer holidays in full swing - the Russian oil and gas industry is recharging its batteries for what promises to be a highly active autumn season of international conferences.

From West Siberia in September to Murmansk in November and many points in between including Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Almaty, the trade in technologies and equipment in the oil and gas industry will be brisk. The crown jewel however in this line up of international meetings will be the 2006 SPE Russian Oil&Gas Technical Conference and Exhibition (RO&G 06).

RO&G 06 focuses on "Technology for World Class Resources". And it has a world class team behind it - including Oil&Gas Eurasia which was selected as Official Publication and official publisher of the Show Catalogue and Show Daily. In this month's issue of Oil&Gas Eurasia we are proud to publish an interview with the Chairman of RO&G 06, Chairman of the Board of LUKOIL and General Director of RITEK, Valery Isaakovich Graifer. In his introduction to the conference program, Professor Graifer - himself a specialist in petroleum science - points out that: "Energy is the paramount motivating force of world economic progress and a guarantee of security. The urgency of the topic of global energy security is underlined by the fact that the leading powers of the world included it on the G-8 agenda in St. Petersburg chaired by Russia. The key role of Russia in this dialogue is backed up not only by its colossal natural resources, production and export of energy, but also by its rich scientific and technological potential."

And that potential of Russia in technology areas is also a topic on which Dr. Graifer is well versed. As General Director of RITEK, he heads one of Russia's most innovative companies, one that is both an independent oil production company as well as a service company that is marketing its Russian technologies and services abroad.
