Weatherford-Polytechnic R&D and Training Centre Established
Weatherford and St Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPbSPU) finalized an agreement on the joint establishment of Weatherford-Polytechnic R&D and Training Centre

“Scientific potential of St. Petersburg academic school and of Polytechnic University in particular is fundamental for new technology development for the fuel and energy sector. We are pleased to be working in strong collaboration with a company like Weatherford,” said Mikhail Fedorov, Chancellor of Polytechnic University, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and honored scientist.
The Centre is a new structural division of SPbSPU. The primary goals and objectives of the Weatherford-Polytechnic collaboration include support of research activities in development of new materials and technologies, development and application of educational programs for students using Weatherford’s technical achievements, and section training for newcomers to the oil and gas industry.
“Collaboration with the University will ensure future development of Weatherford’s technologies, which we supply to our clients within Russia and the FSU Region,” stated Kamil Zakirov, Weatherford’s Vice President of Russian Operations and FSU.
Weatherford entered into a commitment to sponsor R&D activities of the Centre and provide grants for talented students.
